I can advise or assist you with the whole process of website development - from the planning stage, to the creation stage, to the publishing stage and beyond. Even if you intend to use another designer to actually produce your website, I can work with you to put together concept artwork / mock-ups. Likewise if you have an existing website that needs modification then I'm happy to help.

How much does it cost?
When planning a website, there are many factors to take into consideration - not least the budget available. Rather than provide "flat rate" pricing, I prefer to discuss my clients' requirements before coming up with a proposal and quote. The number of pages wanted on the site, the number of original graphics needed and the level of interactivity will all affect how long the process would take - and therefore cost. As a guide however, a basic 5 page website without interactivity, but including creation of all graphic elements would cost around £300.

Depending on what you are trying to achieve, there are many ways to keep the cost of a website down. Don't assume that a website is beyond your budget until you have spoken to me. Likewise, don't underestimate the power of the Internet to promote / develop your business.

What about hosting / domain names?
Many web development companies will also offer to host your website and domain name - some charging a monthly fee, others yearly. Several of my clients had gone with this option, and then had problems later on. They had been unable to get their original developers to make changes to their website, and as their developer was also their host, they would not allow anyone else to make the changes. They were also unwilling to provide a copy of the website on CDROM meaning a new website had to be built from scratch. Getting the domain name moved to a new host also proved to be problematic.

I prefer to work differently, in a way that is fairer for my clients. The actual process of registering a domain name and setting up an account to host your website is actually quite easy - and I would assist you so that you could do this yourself. The end result would be that you had total control over your website and were not tied to me in any way. The domain would be registered in your name, and you'd have your own account with a web hosting company. You would retain ownership of your website and would be free to use other designers / developers to work on it in future, should you wish to do so.

And remember - as I also offer 2D design services, I can create business cards, adverts, flyers and so on that follow the design of your website - for a consistent look.
