This
unique Spanish finca is located 10 minutes drive from the
town of Álora, one of Andalucía’s famous
“pueblos blancos”. Combining the peace and quiet
of the rural community of Camino fuente del madroño
with the convenience of its proximity to the airport (40 minutes)
and the vibrant city of Málaga (50 minutes) –
the location is ideal. The finca consists of 15,000 square
meters of terraced land, 5,000 of which is totally flat and
ideal for development. The land is planted with lemon, orange,
olive and almond trees and is fully irrigated throughout.
Water is supplied from three wells on the land which are for
use exclusively by the finca. Two albercas (water deposits)
on the site store water for the irrigation system, one of
which could easily be converted into a swimming pool. The
house is a very simple 40 square meter structure divided up
into three rooms, with a shower and toilet in a building on
the side. With very little work the bathroom could be accessed
internally and a kitchen fitted to make this a perfect holiday
cottage. Alternatively, the building could be extended with
a building project up to 150 square meters (1% of the land).
Extra accommodation could be built on the land in the form
of wooden chalets which require no planning permission. Electricity
is connected to the property and house and some of the land
could be divided up and sold off as a separate plot with its
own supply, access and one of the wells.
It
is the unspoiled views from this particular finca that make
it totally unique – sweeping across the valle del sol
(valley of the sun) with its many farms and orange, lemon
and olive groves. As the plot is on the side of a hill, there
is no danger of developments in front blocking this amazing
view – and strict guidelines are in place to protect
the character of the area. From the upper terrace, the town
of Álora can be seen with its tiny white houses clinging
to the mountain. The vista is inspiring and changes with the
seasons, weather and time of day from a green, almost Alpine
view in Spring to the rusty oranges and browns of Summer.
The perfect location to relax on holiday, to paint, to write
or just to sit and read a book.
Whilst
there is plenty to do in Álora itself, for a more sophisticated
night out, Málaga is a just short drive or train ride
away. The coast is under an hour away, with Marbella being
easily accessible and offering some of the best restaurants
in Spain. Heading inland and the stunning lakes – a
mixture of natural and man made reservoirs – are only
30 minutes drive. Providing a stunning backdrop for a picnic,
the lakes are surrounded by some excellent restaurants and
ventas as well as offering various sporting facilities from
canoeing to rock climbing. Further a field, the historic town
of Ronda, the rock of Gibraltar and the beautiful sandy beaches
of Tarifa are all fantastic days out. The Moorish city of
Córdoba and Granada and the Sierra Nevada are within
a couple of hours drive, as is the region’s capital
Seville. The capital city Madrid is only 4 hours drive away
and with the development of the high speed rail link even
faster by train. This finca provides the perfect starting
point for exploring Andalucía and provides a blank
canvas for anything from a simple holiday cottage, to a family
home or guesthouse. |
